Objectives:
- Identify the increasing complexity and breadth of cases submitted to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) over the past 16 years.
- Discuss how this directly impacts editors of nursing journals.
- Conduct a COPE forum of submitted cases, using the COPE guidelines for discussion and analysis.
Abstract:
In recent years we have presented information about Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) at INANE meetings. As elected members of the COPE Council we want to present research that was conducted this past year, examining case trends and changes over the past 16 years that the group has been in existence. The increasing complexity in cases has direct implications for our work as journal editors. We will then follow this with a more formal “COPE Forum” in which cases will be presented and discussed by the group, with comments collected and submitted formally to COPE for publication on the website.
